--January 28, 2016 - BOIL ORDER for CITY OF PERU   (This notice does not apply to Grissom or Eagles Point.)

Peru Utilities has issued a Boil Order for the City of Peru due to a breach in a major water line under the Wabash River. The ensuing leak decreased water pressure to the entire system causing the pressure to drop below allowable limits.   Although water service has been restored, precautions should be taken until water testing can be performed to confirm that water is safe for consumption.  For your safety and protection, water from your tap must be boiled for five minutes before drinking, making ice cubes, washing foods, brushing teeth or performing other activities involving human consumption.

Bacteria testing will be conducted over the next two days to confirm that the water is safe for consumption. Successful completion of the testing will be published on this website.

We apologize for the interruption of service and the inconvenience this may have caused. If you have any questions or concerns please call the Division of Water Management Office at 473-7651 and 473-5413 on weekends.
